Mix-and-match stripes, preppy totes, butter yellow, and maritime vibes: These are the trends to shop for summer styling
At Faire, we’re always on the lookout for the latest trends to keep your shop freshly stocked with what people want most—perhaps even before they know it.
What’s trending in apparel for the summer months? We’ve got the receipts. This month’s roundup is packed with fresh fashion insights pulled straight from Faire’s search and sales data, so you can stay a step ahead of what shoppers are loving (and buying).
Whether you’re building out your accessories game, refreshing your go-to wardrobe staples, or chasing down that one viral look everyone’s asking about, this trend report has you covered. It’s your shortcut to what’s hot and where to find it on Faire.
Let’s take a look at the trends.
Summer totes
For today’s shoppers, there is so much to love about a tote bag. Writes Vogue, “The humble canvas tote bag continues to be a must-have in every fashion lover’s closet. It is affordable, practical, and looks good no matter the occasion—from the beach to a fashion show.” This perfectly explains the viral Trader Joe’s mini tote: These bags sold out in days, driving shoppers into a frenzy. Why? Aside from simply being cute, they’re functional, versatile, and customizable—a blank canvas for self-expression . Perhaps this is why they’ve been such a summer staple for as long as we can remember. And especially now in the summer season, as searches for “tote” on Faire are up 90% from December 2024 to April 2025.
Of course, it’s not just the mini tote that’s getting all the attention. InStyle reports that the large New England-prep-inspired tote bag is having its renaissance, too. Indeed, searches for “boat bag” on Faire are up 588% from January to April of this year.
Want some tote recommendations for your shop? This Society Canvas Tote Bag has lots of customizations available, from its color stripes to monograms. Made from heavyweight cotton canvas, it’ll hold everything shoppers need for summertime errands. Think: grocery and farmers market trips, beach hangs, and everything in between. We also love this slightly more relaxed Striped Tote from OMOM, which comes in eight different eye-catching colors. There’s even a small inner pocket for carrying valuables. For a tote with some boho vibes, try the Madison Handwoven Fringe Tote. It comes in a slew of colors and patterns for the free-spirited shopper. Plus, vegan leather accents for a little bit of luxury.
Butter yellow
If there were one color defining the season, it most certainly would be butter yellow: a decidedly sunny contrast to the moody browns and purples of the fall and winter. Nivek Remas co-founder Samer Shaath agrees: “Butter yellow embodies warmth, comfort, and nostalgia—qualities people are craving right now.” We’ve seen this interest reflected on Faire as well, with searches for “yellow” up 47% from January to April and searches more specifically for “butter yellow” up 793% for the same time period.
“Butter yellow is a deliciously chic proposition,” writes Vogue. And Harper’s Bazaar reasons well, “that warmth, seen in fresh spring buds and the soft light of dawn, conveys a sort of optimism—a fresh start—which feels more necessary than ever.”
If you want to delight your shoppers with everything butter yellow, here are some of our top pieces to deliver that warm sunny feeling to their wardrobes:
- Yellow Waffle Knit Shorts: Essential throw-on-and-go shorts (and a matching top) for camp drop-off, friend hangs, trips to the beach, and so much more.
- Linen Ruffled Square Neckline Midi Dress: Elegant, summery—a cut for a princess, in a color that’ll flatter her sun-kissed glow.
- Smocked Ruffle-Hem Midi Dress: A midi dress that’ll suit summer garden parties, brunch with friends, and everything in between.
- Short Sleeve Tiered Midi Dress: Perfect for the preppy crowd, this ruffle-shoulder tiered dress delivers butter yellow in a dress she’ll wear all summer long.
- Linen Tie Vest Yellow: Laid-back and effortless, this vest is ideal for shoppers who are down to show a little bit of skin.
Fisherman aesthetic
The nautical-core trend has been on the rise since 2023, but it’s no longer just coastal grandma looks. We’re seeing a full fisherman aesthetic and maritime vibes happening from head to toe. Town & Country reports, “Classic wardrobe staples like Breton stripe tees, cable-knit sweaters, and cuffed khakis make up the crux of the look, but in spring 2025, you can take ‘fisherman-core’ a step further with playful accessories, such as fish-shaped bags and jewelry.”
These looks are taking over runways and are on fashion icons like Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes (according to InStyle); even The New York Times is taking notice of “the intriguing shapes and colors of sea creatures [that ] are turning up in gold and silver, diamonds and aquamarines” in the jewelry collections of high designers.
On Faire, searches for “fisherman” spiked 124% from December to January of this year and remained 63% higher than last year. Similarly, searches for “nautical” spiked 89% for the same period.
So how can you bring this trend to your shoppers? Start with this charming beaded bracelet that would make a delightful little gift. Or try these stackable beaded necklaces with a gilded fish adornment. Style it on a mannequin with a simple white button-down, barrel jeans, fisherman sandals, and perhaps a tote from above, for a perfect maritime look. Bag charms with oysters and pearls are another way to integrate this trend into your shop. Hang a few on your existing bags or set up a selection in your gifts area. Looking for some cheeky fisherman-core apparel? This crewneck sweater will last through the fall, as will this classic Breton stripe top. Then, finish off the look with some marine-life socks.
Summer cotton and linen
With temperatures rising, it’s only natural for consumers to gravitate toward lighter materials and breathable textiles to beat the heat. That being said, our data shows significant year over year growth for cotton and linen—telling us that sustainability is always in style. For example, on Faire, searches for “linen” spiked 112% from December 2024 to March 2025 and have remained 146% higher than this time last year. And searches for “cotton” are 81% and 26% higher respectively, as well.
“There’s nothing quite like the versatility of a breezy linen pant,” reports Elle. “Whether you’re throwing together a comfortable office-appropriate ensemble, packing for your next tropical getaway, or looking for a timeless staple to wear every weekend, this airy style is an absolute must-have.” And the market is reflecting this demand. In fact, according to the Grand View Research’s Market Report, the global textile fiber market size is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.5% from 2025 to 2030.
To provide your shoppers with the lusciously light and airy pieces they crave for the warm weather ahead, here are some of our favorite pieces:
- Cotton Striped V-Neck Top: This lightweight peplum is the ideal summer staple, effortlessly chic paired with its matching striped shorts, but equally good with relaxed jeans and sandals.
- The Verano Overall: Move over caftans: Shoppers can throw on these shortalls for beach trips, dog walks, and easy hikes all summer long.
- Sade Top — White Stripes: With a surplice silhouette and a romantic cross-front drape, this blouse offers a lovely twist on the classic summer white button-down.
- Sabi Linen Pants: For work or play, these wide-leg, yet perfectly structured pants are flattering and easy-going. Put them on a mannequin with a matching billowy top or pair them with a tighter crop top.
Modern stripes
Stripes are everywhere this season. Writes Harper’s Bazaar, “During the Spring 2025 shows, we saw stripes at Prada, Proenza Schouler, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior—practically every collection on the runway.” On Faire, searches for “stripes” spiked 115% from December to March and are 25% higher than in April 2024. Searches for “striped” were up 121% and 52% respectively, too.
So how is this stripes trend different from seasons past? Designers—and shoppers—are taking things up a notch. British Vogue notes that they’re seeing “modern approaches” like thinner lines, bolder colors, mixing and matching, and even stripes on the bias. We’re dubbing this trend Modern Stripes, where just about anything goes.
For example, the vertical stripes on this strapless midi dress are purposely misaligned for a fun 3-D texture that adds intrigue and depth. Then there’s this sweet pink midi dress that mixes horizontal with vertical stripes. Who says you can’t have both! Finally, there’s this maxi dress, whose cinching at the bust disrupts the otherwise seamless long striped vertical lines. It’s playful, fun, and textured. A statement piece for a flirty summer well-dressed.
